Josh Ellis – Board of Directors
Originally from Seattle, Washington, Josh Ellis moved to Los Angeles in 2003 after completing his MFA in Film Production at Florida State University with a concentration in cinematography. He immediately joined IATSE Local 600 as a camera assistant after earning his days and began to work in film and television, primarily as an A Camera First Assistant Camera. Some of his credits include “Edmond” (2005), “Harsh Times” (2005), “Noah’s Arc” – Season 1 (2005), “Bogeyman 2” (2007), “South of Nowhere” Seasons 1 & 2 (2005-2008), and “Crank: High Voltage” (2009).
In 2009 Josh began teaching at the Los Angeles Film School as an industry specialist in cinematography. In 2011 Josh accepted a position at Miami Dade College’s School of Entertainment & Design Technology as the first professor of their new 4-year Bachelor of Applied Science degree program in Film, Television and Digital Production. Now an Associate Professor Senior at the college, Josh has been a key component to the department becoming one of the largest and most successful film and television programs in the state. Josh’s first textbook, tentatively titled “Student Filmmaker Survival Guide” is scheduled to be published in 2021.
